This Sad Iron predates Mary Potts Patented design (1870's) with a detachable wooden handle. The Iron would have been heated then carefully with rags to hold used to press garments. If you look through the handle hole there is a small spec of light on the right. The previous photo shows where there is a hole in the metal. Still, this Iron is in good used condition.
